Mercur Südlogistik Speditions-GmbH, based in Mannheim, is a freight forwarding company specializing in international partial and full loads, focusing on the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The company stands out due to its high specialization and low dependence on individual customers. As part of their succession plan, equal shareholders Georg Gruber and Thomas Kraft decided to sell their shares to ensure the company's continuity and secure employees' jobs. On the recommendation of CARL and following a company valuation, as well as intensive discussions, Mercur Südlogistik proved to be robust and crisis-proof, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to long-standing business relationships and a diversified customer portfolio.
The clearly defined outreach strategy led to significant interest from potential buyers in the logistics industry. After careful consideration, the owners decided to sell to Schneider Logistics Group AG from Basel, a portfolio company of the private equity investor Invision. Through a share deal, Schneider Logistics acquired the shares from Gruber and Kraft and integrated Mercur Südlogistik into their existing portfolio to create synergies and foster further growth.
